As the Research Director of the Shark Research Unit, Nico is more than just a scientist—he's an advocate of the oceans and our wildlife friends, the shark. Now, the media can paint a very different picture to divers and non-divers alike of what these animals are about in the wild. Often portrayed as a fierce, menacing animal of destruction, but to Nico, they are just an often misunderstood and misrepresented animal who overly smile…with large pointy teeth. His days are filled with diving with these animals, overseeing groundbreaking research projects in South Africa while mentoring aspiring scientists, and meticulously organizing and capturing invaluable shark data sets.
